Our Purpose
Gravely Memorial United Methodist Church is a community of
believers seeking spiritual communion with God through Jesus Christ. It is a
fellowship in which persons help each other in their Christian journey. Our
mission is to love and serve all God’s children. This mission includes
ministering to the whole person through nurture of mind, body, spirit, and
relationships. We exist to help individuals know God or have a deeper
understanding of Him. Through service, praise, and worship, the Holy Spirit
empowers us to love God and neighbor, and to express our faith through a kind
word, gentle spirit, and good example.
Our History
The first meeting place was a garage in the Southern Shops
community. It was soon outgrown. A chapel was secured from Camp Croft and
erected across from the Lone Oak Elementary School. Much work has been done in
making it the size it is today. The church was named in memory of Horace
Gravely, who was the only South Carolina Methodist chaplain to give his life in
World War II.
A Personal Invitation
We invite you to join our faith community and help us
become the church God envisions us to be.
